Kerry Dowling
Board Member
I am a Lawyer and Partner in the Milton/Balclutha law firm Sumpter Moore. Originally from
Ranfurly I have worked in South Otago since 2004, having joined the firm in 2008 and
entering into the partnership in 2013. I live in Milton and actively participate in many
community organisations and activities.
I enjoy law conferences, travel, wine tasting, and my diverse interests include collecting older
style vehicles, vintage jackets and hats, rugby and watching a wide variety of sporting events.
My volunteer experience includes holding various office bearer positions at the Bruce
Country Club, the Toko Rugby Football Club, the Milton Rotary Club, South Otago Victim
support, Elder Care Trust, the Otago Country Rugby Board and offering advice to a variety of
organisations’ around health, safety and legal matters.
Both my legal background and my experiences have given me a good grounding in sound and
sensible governance. I have organized and attended a Health and Safety forum in Milton and
I am responsible for safe employment practices within my own business.
I have been an elected community representative on the MCHT Board since 2010, am a
member of the Management committee and act as a designated authority for providing the
second person checks within the banking system. Anecdotal reports and written survey
feedback show’s that MCHT is providing excellent community health services. We are also
assisting service development outside of our SDHB funding streams to improve local health
and wellbeing and support the Southern district’s focus on locally provided, client driven
health care.
